The Market Lost Its Grip. Retail Sales Is Next.

The market woke up and turned $63.5K from a breakfast plate into the thing buyers still have to order back.

The reclaim failed, the menu got thinner, and now macro gets the next swing. $62.3K still holds the floor for now, and Retail Sales at 8:30 AM ET is the next thing traders are chewing on.

TODAY'S MENU

BTC:$63,076 (-0.65%)— Lost the old floor, now staring at the reclaim line.

ETH:$1,876 (-0.59%)— Better posture than BTC, same unpaid gate at $1,900.

Fear & Greed: 29 (Fear) — Yesterday's appetite check still says small portions.

Macro Watch: DXY 99.82 — Below 100 helps, but it is still close enough to keep the room honest.

TODAY'S JOB

Watch whether Retail Sales gives this shaky tape a reason to settle down or another excuse to stay messy.

LEVELS AT A GLANCE

BTC 4H — Yesterday's Floor, Today's Ceiling

BTC Daily Tape:-0.65% (O $63,491 | H $63,578 | L $62,969 | C $63,076)

Support: $62,850 | Resistance: $63,500 | Bias: Defensive until the reclaim line comes back

ETH 4H — Better Posture, Same Cashier

ETHDaily Tape:-0.59% (O $1,887 | H $1,892 | L $1,874 | C $1,876)

Support: $1,846 | Resistance: $1,900 | Bias: Steadier than BTC, not repaired yet

CHEF'S CHOICE

BTC lost the easy bounce, and now the chart has to share the kitchen with macro again.

The clean reset bulls wanted never really made it to the table, which leaves the market stuck in that awkward spot where the breakdown case still isn’t fully cooked, but the rebound case looks under-seasoned too. This is still a pressure test more than a disaster, but it’s not the kind of tape that earns easy confidence either.

That’s where Retail Sales comes in. It’s the next item on the menu, and traders are going to use it as a fresh excuse to decide whether risk appetite has any pulse left or whether this market wants another round of defensive chop. If the macro read lands cleanly, BTC can still stabilize and start working on a repair. If it doesn’t, then the market probably keeps acting like a kitchen closing late: messy, tired, and not serving anything pretty.

COOKING LESSON

Broken support often comes back as resistance on the first bounce.

Why? Because traders who bought the old floor and got trapped usually use the first bounce to get out. That creates selling pressure right where the market used to feel safe. So when a level flips, do not just ask whether price bounced. Ask whether it took the old floor back and actually stayed there.

QUICK BITES

  • MACRO — Retail Sales owns the opening bell | 8:30 AM ET is verified on the calendar, but that is schedule only. Hot print, tight room. Soft print, buyers get another shot.

  • ETH — Better posture, same unpaid gate | ETH is still $30 above $1,846, but it does not lead until $1,900 clears.

  • CONTEXT — Yesterday's PPI helped, price still sulked | Final-demand PPI was unchanged in July and up 4.7% over 12 months, which made the backdrop less hostile without forcing a bullish response.

THE TAKE

BTC is still the messy dish and ETH is still the cleaner side, but neither one has plated a finished meal yet. If buyers cannot win back $63,500 after retail sales, this stays a market talking big with an empty tray. If they can, breakfast gets a lot more interesting fast.
