Macro Set the Table. Oil Burned the Meal

BTC lost the repair line, and now the easy version of the bullish story is off the menu.

Softer inflation gave crypto a warm plate. Oil and geopolitics walked in and took it back. That’s really the whole story today: one macro tailwind, one macro veto. Inflation gave bulls a reason to lean in, but oil and Middle East tension kept appetite in check and knocked the easy bounce off the menu.

TODAY'S MENU

BTC: $62,843 (-2.15%) | Lost the repair line, now staring back up at $63,360 and $64K.

ETH: $1,828 (-4.33%) | Slipped under $1,846, but $1,800 still has food on the plate.

Fear & Greed: 27 (Fear) | The room is nervous, but not curled under the table.

Macro Watch: Brent / Hormuz risk | Softer inflation helped; oil and geopolitics capped the meal.

Flow Signal: BTC ETFs +$181M | Institutional appetite still exists, even if price didn’t reward it.

TODAY'S SPONSOR : The Daily Upside

Panic is a financial news strategy. Clarity is ours.

Markets move. Headlines catastrophise. But somewhere inside the noise is the story that matters — the opportunity, not the fear.

The Daily Upside was built by Wall Street insiders to find it — global business and finance, reported without the alarm.

LEVELS AT A GLANCE

BTC 4H — Repair Line Lost, Lower Shelf Still Holding

BTC  Daily Tape: -2.15% (O $64,221 | H $64,881 | L $62,697 | C $62,843)

     Support: $61,300 | Resistance: $63,360| Bias: Defensive

ETH 4H — Cleaner Than BTC, Still Not Clean

ETH  Daily Tape: -4.33% (O $1,911 | H $1,913 | L $1,823 | C $1,828)

     Support: $1,800 | Resistance: $1,846 | Bias: Neutral

COOKING LESSON:

Never read bullish data in isolation.

Softer inflation should’ve helped crypto by easing rate pressure, but oil stayed hot and kept traders nervous about inflation coming right back. That’s why markets can get "good news" and still trade like crap — they’re pricing the whole macro plate, not just one ingredient.

CHEF'S CHOICE

Soft Inflation Helped. Oil Vetoed the Celebration.

Crypto got a decent macro appetizer, then Brent showed up and took the plate away. That’s really the whole morning. BTC lost $63,360 and couldn’t hold $64K, which turns both levels into reclaim work instead of support. The bigger $60K thesis is still alive because $61,300 and $60K haven’t broken, but bulls are back playing defense.

There is still one constructive side dish here: BTC ETFs took in about $181M on July 15, then only about $15M on July 16, while ETH ETFs have added about $96M over the first three days of the week. So appetite exists. Price just isn’t making it easy.

QUICK BITE

MACRO — Brent kept the pressure on | Softer inflation should have helped more, but oil and Hormuz risk capped the bounce.

THE TAKE

The bigger base isn’t dead, but the easy bounce story is. If BTC can’t reclaim $63,360, the market stays in defense mode and $60K keeps getting louder.
